Dragon Wall
I hear the dragon's roaring call
As they battle in my wall
On the floor near number five
Where I see them quite alive
One fire-breather, brave and strong
One, sleek and fast, and lizard-long
They look ready for a fight
That could last throughout the night.
Should I watch the awesome fray
And witness how the dragons play?
Maybe I should bring a chair
And place it on a nearby stair?
I could observe from my front door
But there’s a problem on my floor
The goblins live on every side
If I stop, they’ll have my hide.
I brought this doom upon myself
Why can’t I meet the stairway elf?
Or see fairies ‘neath the paint
I’d hang out with no complaint
I can’t change what lies in there
It’s not my choice, I do declare!
The monsters lived here long before
I set foot upon this shore
I’ll need to make a sacrifice
Perhaps some dog chow would be nice
But they have really scary claws
Not fuzzy little puppy-paws
Maybe I could blind my eyes
Or deny where dragon flies
Ignore the creatures where they roam??
But then I wouldn’t know my home.
