The Knights of the Sparrow

Soaring stoutly on the wind
We dart through misty morn’
From oak to pine upon the quest
On Sparrow’s wings are born

Dwarfish-folk now hold the reins
Of proud, once dreaded foe
In symbiotic partnership
Our talents we bestow

On swift, instinctive pilots
With gifts of second sight
Daring distance-travelers
Discoverers in flight

A band of sturdy warriors
Diminutive, yet brave
Leaders, planners, builders
Of structures where we save

Our sustenance, our livelihood
The future of our kind
Happily we share the toil
And grains and nuts we find

With Father Winter looming near
The forests growing cold
We light the torch of kinship
Tell stories new and old

Huddling by the sacred fire
Stoked with utmost care
Tales nourish our shared memories
They keep us keen!  Aware!

The People of the Sparrow!
The Knights of Passerine!
Grateful, steadfast, well-prepared
With each season we align!

One might find our dwellings
Close to an ally's nest

In friendship we now coexist
A harmony most blessed
