The Troll's Cauldron

One last pinch is what I need
To add to this confection
My recipe is nearing
Delectable perfection

The ingredients that I use
I’ve nurtured many years
My talents and my secrets
Unmatched!  I have no peers!

I’ve concocted witches’ brew
And bottled elven wine
I’ve tasted what the dwarves call stew
It’s nothing close to mine

This is not my common fare
Over which I toil
There is artistry and magic
In the mix I boil

I am not your average troll
That haunts the dark of night
My wisdom is unparalleled
This potion gives me sight

I commune with fairy kind
I ponder on the sky
I delve in natural sciences
Words can make me cry

I walk the woods and mountains
With animals and creatures
I study herbs and plant life
All properties and features

The hunters will not find me
I’ve mastered cunning stealth
I feel the power of nature

And seek a spiritual wealth

If sympathetic humans
Meet me on the path
I’ll demonstrate diplomacy
And subjugate my wrath

Although I am high-minded
My nature is intact
I possess a titan strength
Be careful how you act!

An annual rite begins tonight
A gathering of souls
These sacred grounds, restricted
To all but mountain trolls

The time has come to fill my bowl
And cast the final spell
I ask you, friends, to take your leave
I wish you fond farewell
