Long Live Pan!
Are you fading into twilight
From your nymphs did you retire?
Are you feeling much more humble
Have you calmed your raging fire?
Are you losing tuneful breath
Is your swansong being played?
Your final composition
To grace the woodland glade?
Are there no more Bacchanals
Have the gods abandoned you?
Does anybody hear your notes
Is your message breaking through?
Or, is your age irrelevant
Your omnipresence strong?
Do you have thriving progeny
That will always sing your song?
Old Man Pan, we’re listening
Your music serves us well
Your golden rings still shimmer
As you cast your magic spell.
We hear you during summer nights
Underneath the changing moon
Life's variety of players
To your euphony attune.
Play on, dear old maestro
We have lessons still to learn
We’re ready for more harmony
For your passion we still yearn.
Please join us by our pagan fires
Where we will let you know
Your company we long for
As we let our spirits glow!
