The Fairy Poet
In solitude he sits within the tree
A vantage point that he considers fair
A warm abode that he may call his own
A window to the world, sublime and rare
His library is housed by oaken shelves
Maintained by steady hands and hardy will
A life of dreams and knowledge cataloged
With love and passion balanced by a skill
To see the world in every way he might
From back to front while living in between
In more dimensions known to common man
An altered vision grown from fairy gene
In many shades and nuanced hues he sees
Unique and stunning vibrancy that thrives
In deeper regions of diversity
The ecosystems that enrich our lives
To verse, his pen is guided to express
His thankfulness for finding different ways
To slowly craft his spirit on the path
That paints contentment mirroring his gaze
A spirit not alone, he soars the wind
From greater heights he cultivates his grounds
A piercing vision fortifies his nights
When owl song and poetic thought resounds

High in an oak tree, deep in the dark forest, a fairy Hermit sits in studious retreat in his library. His little owl companion keeps watch to give warning of any who may approach. Solitude is essential for this fairy as he immerses himself in the pursuit of understanding. The Hermit is a poet, and poetry requires time to consider nuance, symbolism, and metaphor. His goal is to make his life a poem, even if he is the only one to hear it. To this end, he devotes his attention to studying the wisdom of the ages. Though he has shut himself away from the world, he is even more aware of it from the vantage point of perspective. Taking the time to consider patterns, history, and the workings of the ages, the Hermit is as far-seeing as his owl friend.
